The Gaels prevailed in a surprisingly close 37-0 shutout. QB Danny Brannagan had 392 yards passing in three quarters of play. He was 14-of-26 with one touchdown and no interceptions on the day. Brad Smith was his prime target finishing with six catches for 210 yards including a 75-yard major, while Alex Vanags added four receptions for 122 yards. Marty Gordon broke the 100-yard barrier on the ground, carrying the ball 18 times for 156 yards and one touchdown. Running mate Mike Kinch also scored his first CIS TD.
The Queen's defense held Toronto quarterback Mark Stinson to 14 of 30 passes for 209 yards and one interception and allowed 209 yards rushing, 94 by Stinson. Leading the way for the defense were Seaway Document Solutions Player of the Game Craig Thompson with 2.5 sacks, 7 tackles and 2 assists, Ryan Bechmanis (9 solo and 4 assisted tackles), Ian Hazlett (9+3), Ross Corley (5+4), Mike Patone (5+3)amd Jimmy Allan with his 2nd INT of the year. Rookie Kevin Magee recorded a sack. Special teams recorded a safety, and special teams player Eric Isenor scored a TD off a Toronto fumbled punt return. Ryan Elger rounded out the scoring with 2 FG's, 4 converts and a single.
Next up in London, the Western Mustangs who have lost 2 in a row after opening the season 5-0.
